Watchmen: Volume 1
United States releaseNovember 6, 2019
The first volume of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's score for HBO's Watchmen introduced an unstable blend of modular electronics, heavy percussion, damaged piano, and period detail. Its sound gave the series a distinct identity separate from earlier screen versions of the comic.
The physical edition was presented as an artifact from the program's fictional world, credited to the Sons of Pale Horse as The Book of Rorschach. That approach turned the packaging into part of the story and established the pattern followed by the next two volumes.
