Original Score

Waves

For Trey Edward Shults's Waves, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross created music that moves fluidly alongside an unusually dense collection of existing songs. Piano, electronics, and sustained tones carry emotional transitions that dialogue cannot fully express.

The score changes character as the film shifts perspective. Its first half tightens around pressure and consequence; the second opens into patience, grief, and cautious repair.
