Original Motion Picture Score

The Killer

The Killer reunited Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross with director David Fincher for their fifth feature-film collaboration. The score follows an assassin whose rigid internal routine begins to fail, using low pulses, drones, mechanical rhythm, and sudden bursts of sound beneath his controlled exterior.

Much of the film's foreground music comes from the Smiths, leaving the original score to operate below the surface. Reznor and Ross create a restrained electronic system that tracks pressure, movement, and consequence without competing with the character's narration.
