Stagecraft

NIN stage designs use lighting, screens, cameras, and physical structures to change how each song is seen.

For Lights In The Sky in 2008, Rob Sheridan, Roy Bennett, and Moment Factory used movable screens, live cameras, and visuals that reacted to the musicians. Images could appear in front of or behind the band, and camera feeds enlarged small movements for the full room.

Cold And Black And Infinite in 2018 used a simpler setup: a scrim, direct lighting, smoke, and fewer fixed cues. That reduction gave the band more freedom to change songs and sequencing from night to night.

Screens and lighting can surround the musicians instead of sitting behind them.

Live cameras and reactive imagery change in response to the performance.

Simpler staging gives the band more freedom to change arrangements and setlists.
