Halo 13
The Day The World Went Away
United States release
July 20, 1999
The Day The World Went Away is the first single from The Fragile. Its restrained opening, massive guitar bloom, and absence of conventional drums announced a different scale and emotional vocabulary for the new era.
The Halo pairs the single version with “Starfuckers, Inc.” and the spacious “Quiet” variation. Its stark floral imagery and carefully limited track list make it feel like a deliberate threshold into The Fragile.
